Results Weidentified 23 randomised comparisons (21trials involvinga total of 1709 patients).In the acute-phase treatment, the combined therapywas superior to antidepressant pharmacotherapy (RR1⁄41.24,95% CI1.02^1.52) or psychotherapy (RR1⁄41.16,95% CI1.03^ 1.30).After terminationofthe acute-phase treatment, the combined therapywas more effective thanpharmacotherapy alone (RR1⁄41.61,95% CI1.23^2.11) andwas as effective aspsychotherapy (RR1⁄40.96, 95% CI 0.79^1.16).
